...the last word in event catering?
Bowl food – you may (or may not) have heard of it, but it is the latest trend to hit event catering. Having grown in popularity in London over the past 6 – 12 months, it’s on its way up North, and certainly cropping up more and more in catering requests we receive.
Sometimes described as ‘mini meals’, bowl food catering is essentially small dishes served in individual plates/bowls – typically somewhere between the size of a canapé and a starter potion. What we like about bowl food is that it can be a great informal way to feed larger groups of people a decent sized meal but without the need to sit down.
We were recently asked to provide bowl food at a function for a large accountancy practice in Manchester. We devised a mixture of meat, fish and vegetarian options for them, along with a delicious lemon posset for dessert. We’ve posted some pictures from the event below…
The choice of dishes available as bowl food is virtually limitless – we’ve spied steak and chips, beef with Yorkshire’s and sticky toffee pudding at recent events! We can provide ideas for a menu for you, or if you have specific dishes in mind, our team of chefs will be happy to create these options for you. the key is to keep it as easy to eat as possible without the aid of a knife and fork – the idea of bowl food is for it to be eaten whilst chatting, with one piece of cutlery only!
If you are considering hosting an event and would like to discuss bowl food catering options with us, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
