In June this year it was time to return to one of our favourite wedding venues – Victoria Baths.
This time, it was Abby and Simon’s big day, and boy, what a good one it was! The magnificent venue looked stunning in Abby and Simon’s choice of peach, coral and pale green colours. After the ceremony in the male first class bath, it was a champagne reception with a difference – instead of canapés, the guests were treated to a delicious ice cream from our vintage ice cream bike.
After a tour of the baths it was time to sit down to the wedding breakfast in the male second class pool. To start, the guests tucked into bread, olives and a selection of dips – including homemade humous, sunblush tomato and feta and creamy aioli.
The main event was a BBQ buffet – cooked out the back of the building by our very own King of the Grill, before being plated up for guests to help themselves. We had so many comments about the food – which included belly pork in a sticky BBQ glaze, rump steak in read wine, swordfish steaks smothered in garlic butter, tandoori chicken skewers and charred halloumi pieces. Accompanied by 5 different salads, juicy corn on the cob and new season baby potatoes, it was the BBQ buffet to end all BBQ buffets!
A trio of the couple’s favourite desserts followed – lemon posset with earl grey shortbread, mini chocolate brownie and French macaroon. The evening guests were treated to a further feast – Goan white fish curry, chicken tikka masala curry, and lentil, vegetable & saag curry, all accompanied by braised onion rice.
As ever, it was an awesome day out at the baths, made even more so by such a lovely couple. Best wishes Abby and Simon! x
